I know that my Mum and I have never had what is considered the “traditional” Mother/Daughter relationship. It is probably far from it. But I have learnt more from my Mum than most. I have learned lessons that have helped me as a mother, as a partner and today as a new business owner. I am forever grateful for so much that my Mum has taught me.
A lot of you probably don’t know that I worked for my Mum in high fashion for over 17 years. She taught me to understand that just because I love something, doesn’t mean that the customers will love it. She taught me to listen as much as I talk.. which if you know me.. is a LOT.
My Mum taught me to only have products that you are proud to stand behind. That quality counts and that no matter what you do, you need to do it to the best of your ability. No cutting corners. Ever.
I learned that it is not ever “selling” when you love your product. When you see that it is made from quality products, that you, yourself want to take home. I use the term “selling” as the best thing she taught me in business… it isn’t selling when you are just sharing with people the products that you love. No pressure. No bullshit. Just something special that you, yourself would be very happy to have as your own.
For these and so many other reasons, I consider myself lucky to be one of your girls.
Happy Mother’s Day everyone!!
